It all started with a call between two longtime friends—one an industrial sales veteran, the other a seasoned software entrepreneur. Co-founders Andrew Waites and Rob Ratterman first met in 2001. They shared a simple goal: building better tools to simplify complex work.

Years later, Andrew had an idea—this time inspired by wireless mesh networks. He’d spent years watching plant workers check equipment by hand and wondered: what if sensors could do that job remotely and more reliably?

That idea became the foundation for what Waites is today. Based in Cincinnati, Ohio, Waites has spent the past 20 years building a world-class team, industry-leading wireless sensors, and advanced AI models that help industrial organizations eliminate unplanned downtime and keep operations running smarter, longer, and more profitably.
