How the Waites Private Mesh Network Moves Machine Health Data from Sensor to Cloud

Using 2.4 GHz IEEE 802.15.4 wireless communication encrypted with AES-128 security, the Waites mesh network securely transfers condition data from Waites sensors, wireless nodes and repeaters to gateways across complex industrial environments. From there, data is transmitted through cellular MQTT communication secured with TLS encryption to the Waites Cloud for AI analysis and analyst collaboration.

Waites Wireless Node

Waites Wireless Nodes connect the SV5 and S4B tethered sensors and Universal Adapters into the network, routing machine health data through the gateway for AI analysis.

Nodes run on battery or line power, giving teams flexibility across asset types and locations without running power infrastructure to every monitored point.

Sensor inputs: Vibration, temp, tach, Universal Adapter
Power options: Battery or line-powered
Protocol: 802.15.4 / 2.4 GHz
Deployment: Wireless or tethered sensors

Waites Repeater

Waites Repeaters extend the mesh network across long distances, around structural barriers, and into remote areas of large or multi-level facilities. Each repeater extends signal coverage by approximately 1,000 meters, and up to three can be daisy-chained for multi-kilometer reach from a single gateway.

For plants with complex layouts, distant outbuildings, or RF-challenging areas, repeaters close the coverage gaps that would otherwise leave critical assets dark.

Range per hop: ~1,000 m line-of-sight
Daisy-chain limit: Up to 3 per chain
Maximum reach: Multi-kilometer
Power: Line-powered
